In Ukraine, corn is grown by both small and large farms. And practically every region uses it in the food, livestock and technical industries. But we will talk about the yield of corn, how to raise it?

    Benefits of early sowing

- Corn sprouts planted in cool and humid seasons germinate better.

- Plants planted in the dry summer months have a more developed root system and are better adapted to a lack of moisture.

- Harvest several weeks earlier with early sowing, which provides protection from frost and poor harvesting in adverse weather conditions.

- Early plants are short, which protects them from wind and unfavorable weather.

But don't forget that early sowing is always a risk of frost, wet and cold weather and rapid weed growth.

    Corn for grain

There is a certain scheme for planting corn grains, which includes the following points:

1. Measuring soil temperature on an independent way, because the ideal is 8-12 degrees.

2. At a depth of 10-12 cm, the temperature changes extremely rarely, but at 20 cm and deeper it remains constant all year round.

3. From 55 to 95 thousand should be planted per hectare - this is approximately 5-7 plants per linear meter. It all depends on the variety, so you should carefully study the species.

    Soil for sowing
You can use classical cultivation, rotten remains are plowed by a plow 25-30 cm, and in early spring a finely lumpy soil structure is created with a cultivator.

And "zero" tillage - planting on stubble or sod, which is carried out without tillage.

Top dressing of corn It is carried out in two stages:

1. When the first leaves appeared on the plants, nitrogen fertilizers are applied - 7-8 kg per hectare.

2. And when panicles appear - superphosphate and potash fertilizers with the calculation of 3 kg and 0.5 kg per 1 ha.

    Maize planting patterns:

- Square-nest sowing is done the distance between plants is 45 cm by 1m2 accommodates 9-12 plants.

- Routine crops are planted depending on the type of corn - undersized ones have a distance between rows of 30 cm, and varieties for silage - 20 and even 15 cm.

Summing up, I would like to note that you should not be afraid of an early variety, plant it when the soil is warmed up as much as possible and do not forget about the large amount of nutrients.

Rich harvest!
